     Terrence J. Tate, a native of Wichita, Kansas, was installed as Senior Pastor of Historic Washington Avenue Baptist Church on April 7, 2019, after serving as associate pastor under Dr. Edward Alexander. Pastor Tate has a BA from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas, with a concentration in religious studies. He also has several years of experience as a musician and musical director of ministries throughout Kansas. He even served as the Youth Musical Director of the Kansas Baptist Youth Convention, representing the Midwest region.

     Pastor Tate truly has a heart for people and ministry. Pastor Tate is the proud father of daughters Myracle and Zion, and a son, Emmanuel. He has also served as a foster parent. As Pastor Tate says, "Everybody needs somebody. When people are experiencing trials, having someone stand with them makes a difference."
